CIT 230 Core
CIT 230 is a class offered by the Computer Information Technology department. The title of the class is Web Fundamentals. The teacher of the class is Brother Robertson.
As a Communication major, I was in need of two clusters of classes that could compliment my major. One of those was on web design and CIT 230 was one of the classes that I needed to take. The class has helped me a lot to learn the principles of web design.
As a major part of the class, we got together in groups and worked on a website. This project formed the foundation for the class which purpose was to help us learn the real-world development procedure of a website.
One great example of this was the site plan we had to develop for the group website. This site plan included, for example, details about demographics, design themes that we would use and content that would make up the site.
Another great focus of the class was on PHP and the power that it can give to our websites. Much time was focused on how PHP can make the development and maintenance of our sites so much easier. Thankfully, I was able to use the PHP knowledge that I gained in this class to help supplement the work that I was doing in my other web-focused class, COMM 310.
In the class we used a development program called NetBeans. This program was a great help to me as it has a lot of tools to help speed up the development process, such as autocomplete for element tags.
